Making Alternative to Ctrl+Alt+(F1..F6)

I wanted to make a keyboard shortcut that is a little more finger-friendly than ctrl-alt-F1-6, but it seems like the only other way is chvt, which requires root from the X window system. I searched around but couldn't find any alternative. Anyone know if I'm missing something?

I'm not seeing C-A-F1 in our openbox config (rc.xml)...

https://github.com/BunsenLabs/bunsen-co … box/rc.xml

What action are you trying to trigger?

I don't care what you do at home. Would you care to explain?

Re: Making Alternative to Ctrl+Alt+(F1..F6)

^ C - A - F1/6 drops the user into a tty.

Not sure where you can change that.

I've never tried it, but maybe xdotool can be used to simulate C-A-F(1-6) with a an alternative key binding.

You must unlearn what you have learned.

Ah, of course, duh! Thanks. My Ctrl key is a bit numb, so I wasn't getting any result. WFM when I click it right. And C-A-F7 to get back to the desktop.

I'd advise against it.

May I ask why you need to switch virtual terminals so often that you need a shortcut for it?
Can't you just open a terminal instead (that's what they're for)?
