Finally we have an iso file for you to try.
It's now numbered at alpha-4 because it's already had a couple of bits fixed, but if anyone would like to give it a try and report any problems or things that could be improved, then please!
(Keep improvement suggestions to tiny tweaks please - anything bigger can go in package upgrades, or the Lithium release which will come out with Buster.)
Bugs, on the other hand, we want to squash as thoroughly as possible.

One request - please don't share this with your friends and family, it's still a testing iso. Two reasons:
1) The apt BunsenLabs source is still set to the experimental repo. The official BL repo will be set up soon, and then the experimental repo will be closed down, so /etc/apt/sources.list.d/bunsen.list will need to be edited. Later isos will have the official repos set.
2) This file is hosted on my personal Google Drive, and might not stand up to too much traffic.

I had tested the virtual installer in virtual good, physically gave me failure.

the test if possible with the installer, in live it works, but the installer gives failure as Debian live.

Tested here on a laptop T500. The optics is excellent.

This is the case with Live ISO's.
Unfortunately, I don't want to install it, because:
- I only have the American keyboard layout
- the installation in english with the installer I don't dare to do / that I don't understand. :8

I probably have to install Bunsenlabs more often, because I searched "too early" in the ISO with F2 for the language settings. 8o
I was not successful with the GUI of the installer, as I suspected.
I didn't want him to put the already existing swap in place again.
After all, CLI installation was easier.

The dialogs during installation of the LAMP stack are not readable, especially the one where you choose which web server phpmyadmin will be installed on. The colors make the text unreadable.

Also the last question about two possible configurations of Apache, one of which is for use by multiple users, is not clear. I was not sure exactly what I was choosing to do if I chose "Yes".

I have some observations myself:

Our "no tofu" font isn't doing it's job — twoion's glyphs are nothing but tofu... We need more fonts, sorry about that.

I do appreciate that the last point is flogging a very dead horse but it does make the live system look bad, IMO.

I notice the iso says it is 64 bit. I guess you don't have a 32 bit one to test, and I wonder if when Helium is released, will it have a 32 bit release?

Using VirtualBox 5.2.6. Helium has problems with the VM window resizing that are not present in the Deuterium version. Sometimes there is a lag, sometimes it won't resize and sometimes the menu does not stay to the right but ends up in the center of the screen. This is with the Virtualbox Extensions and the Guest Additions both installed.

The installer chooses languages, partitions well when it starts to install from there is a little jumps the error. I did it in the main notebook and I had to reinstall deuterium. The tests I think you have to do them in real installation, is not the same as the MV the touchpad, energy or other things does not have the same behavior.

The ISO either breaks down or fails something in the recording is also possible if other users can try. Although with Debian the same happened to me and download the no live.

If it is a problem with the upstream installer then we can't do much about it, you should probably file a bug report with Debian (about your problems with the Debian installer) if you want to get it fixed.

From where did you obtain the Guest Additions?

Security support in VirtualBox is sufficiently terrible that Debian dropped it completely just before the stretch freeze and so there are no such packages in Helium-dev, AFAIUI.

I strongly recommend that you do not use VirtualBox, it is awful.

This is indeed pretty bad. The issue seems to be with the colour palette that we are currently setting for Terminator. If the old CrunchBang colours are substituted then the dialogues become readable. I will do this in the next upgrade of bunsen-configs. Meanwhile, if you install rxvt-unicode and invoke 'urxvt' as a terminal, such dialogues are readable.

Graphics experts: if you have any better colour schemes to offer, please do so.

Sorry, but such dialogues are generated by the packages being installed, and are beyond our control.

Yes, it's ironic that security.debian do not support https! There's no particular delay with the dns redirection that deb.debian use (with apt on stretch+) but anyway, I'll try configuring live-build to use https://deb.debian.org/debian-security with --mirror-binary-security.

Getting the iso to use https was not as simple as it might have been. Debian Installer's preseed file needed some entries which are documented only in Debian bug reports. It might turn out to be necessary to add a preseed of
'd-i apt-setup/security_host string deb.debian.org' but there's no apparent setting for the necessary subdirectory /debian-security/ so we'll see what live-build can do by itself first.

Really?? You call that an eternity? I'm no terminator fan either, because back in the day it really took an eternity to open (several seconds), and I've used urxvt ever since, but no, I've no taste for reopening that Topic Going Nowhere. For every terminator-hater there seems to be a terminator-lover.

Yes a 32bit iso will come too, and also a cut-down version that will fit on a CD-ROM.

I'll build a 32bit test file soon - it's a simple config switch - so people like me with old laptops can try it.

I really like it, my Asus is pretty new and needed the latest kernal for touchscreen and mouse.

Shortcut keys work but in live mode brightness did not. Power setting and laptop lid setting worked. It really nice

Wifi found networks but i am quite far from router so did not connect.

Anyway for just live mode testing, its great, i really miss Bunsenlabs and this new version will take it to current modern PC standard.

Colours look pleasant, is there some new alpha fading of windows, either way i love it for its speed and functionality.

Thank you, will keep an eye out for when Helium is on the main Downloads page, i will check daily.

yes, the trick with the CLI installer is to select the existing swap and deselect it ("do not use").

The bootloader Grub detected all OS (arch; siduction; mageia) and starts it from the menu.
As I said, everything works, both networks; audio; Bluetooth;
Fn buttons (Volume, Brightness); Touchpad and TrackPoint.

In Thunar you can mount the partitions, I can work as root by right-clicking on them.

Personally, I would have liked to see the possibility of setting up a root and user password during the installation (sudo I don't like)

In response to the font question, I feel like we have sufficient enough users that would need those fonts to justify them in the install. I try to keep in mind that our user base is pretty much worldwide and international in nature.

In response to the bl-welcome font readability issue, I'll look into it. I'm not 100% sure what the final config looked like but am not seeing any issues with the last config that I posted. Likely it is just that the palette needs a bit of tuning. I feel like I will be able to do some testing this evening or in the morning possibly.

You could try some kernel command line parameters (in the installed system) and see if they help:
