Anyone calibrated a screen with a ColorHug ?

It's a small device that makes it possible to color calibrate your screen(s) :

and it's designed for Linux.

Anyone who tried it ?

Re: Anyone calibrated a screen with a ColorHug ?

Yes I got one a couple of months back, simple to use and then set colour profile for different apps like Darktable, Digikam and Gimp. With hindsight it seems like a lot of money for a 15 min job but probably worth if you do any printing as it give a more accurate colour image especially with LED type screens which tend to show images too bright with prints being much darker. It is also open hardware and software and worth supporting in my opinion.

I like GNOME's colour balance thingie:

It's free (as in beer) as well smile

EDIT: needs a spectrophotometer though.

Do you think it is possible to merely calibrate the _screen_ itself and not only applications ?

Yes, software will generate a profile for your monitor. The apps I mentioned above allow using the monitor profile or any other one you may want to use.
