Re: November 2015 Screenshots

@Head_on_a_Stick - Nice setup, how's that setup working for you? Neither the xfce4 panel or tint2 was rendering properly on my laptop (went into permanent autohide or something like that); but if I killed and restarted them, all was right with the world. May revisit it some day.

back on topic:

Xmonad, xmobar for system information -

Yeah, I've had to put a similar hack in ~/.config/autostart with a keybind to switch to xmonad.

I'm sure I can find a better solution though...

EDIT: Experimenting:

@Nili, you're joking, right? Out of GNOME, KDE, Cinnamon, MATE, Xfce and LXDE, Xfce is tied with LXDE for ugliest OOTB. My opinion, of course. Look at those unaliased rounded corners in HoaS' first scrot. Ugh.

I needed a more usable theme for Rachel. Xfce 4.10 w/out xfdesktop4.

@hhh

That's amazingly gorgeous. Some of the artistic talent on display here is mind boggling to me. It's without a doubt, a gift from birth and not something that can be merely acquired over time, trial and error.

Really nice.

In my case that's time, trial, error, blood, sweat and tears. But thank you. smile

Opinions are like noses; everyone has one and they all smell.  I remember the first time I saw XFCE OOTB and thought how fresh and functional it looked and felt compared to Gnome, and to me beauty arises when form follows function.  (Of course it can't hold a candle to the CrunchBang/BunsenLabs interface - dose keybinds doe!)

Just to stay on-topic, here's a screenie of a practically unmodified Debian Cinnamon Sid:

In my opinion XFCE is much more superior to GNOME / GNOME3 especially. Even my friend who uses Fedora has passed into LXDE than GNOME Shell, leaving the GNOME Shell think is valid for all those who want a little more air on their system. I only use GTK2 applications.

I like your scrot big_smile clean color paint you did, very nice as always smile

Re: November 2015 Screenshots

Nice tastefully collection of music Dobb's smile I like the wallpaper, you've adapted very well just like you do the most.

For powerful computer and higher memory GNOME Shell it is fine but i can't use at all on my old buddy.

Re: November 2015 Screenshots

Thanks Nili smile  Yeah Shell does use a bit more juice than the other DE's but I love it so much.  I noticed Firefox seems to be getting worse with every iteration so I am back to using Epiphany Browser.

For some reason my linked scrots have the fonts all cut off......weird.

Hey, Xfce 4.10 minus xfdesktop4 is what I use, but in appearance? GNOME shell looks prettier than Xfce on every recent distribution I've seen.

But like pvsage implied, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. My last comment on it unless we take the discussion to Off Topic.

-edit- Oh, and thanks for the compliments everyone. smile
