That "old version" should not be used anyway, see https://forums.bunsenlabs.org/viewtopic.php?id=2949
There is a newer version available from the jessie-backports repository:
https://packages.debian.org/jessie-backports/virtualbox
Instructions here:
https://backports.debian.org/Instructions/
Post back if you need more help

hello Head_on_a_Stick
yes at first thanx a lot. i go investigate later or tomorrow.
not the 5.2.x but as good as needed for vm for studies.
thanx a lot and take care

5.2.2 from the Oracle repository was working a Jessie base before I migrated to a Stretch base and a backported 5.2.4 from upstream Debian, which works better. The only thing we noted was that the interface had become "non-native" with Jessie's version of Qt 5, as in not following the theme and having tiny fonts.
The address is
deb http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/debian/ jessie contrib
and up-to-date: http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualb … albox-5.2/
If you are having trouble, please be more specific as to what exactly is going wrong.

hello both
ok the fact is i think i need last version due to 5.2.2 used under windows 10 during my studies. but perhaps i 'm wrong ? the vdi images perhaps work under 4.3.36 from 5.2.2 on windows ? if yes i don't need to upgrade
i failed to install jessie version @MX Linux Developer but i perhaps need to desinstall 4.3.36 version ? i still be a noob on linux but still be well on linux instead of windows 10 with the options under the options, the mess it is i think instead of linux which seems clear compared to it.
so well i go see later if 4.3.36 seems to be great with 5.2.2 vms

so then it failed due to "pipe" error
i go desinstall 4.3.36 version and go install latest version if you agree about versions large differences

ok so i tried to import a vdi but virtualbox told me it only virtualize 32b systems. i mean i'm already under virtualbox as a 64b bunsenlabs version, it is made to run directly inside a vm hardisk box named iodd 2541. so i will boot the vdi directly with it and perhaps not any mistake about 64b version on vb bunsenlabs ? thanx a lot for help yet, i go investigate some more....

If you post the exact error then we would be able to help you better.
The package from the stretch-backports repository is only a few minor versions behind and it will "catch up" eventually.

hello Head_on_a_Stick
ok i go to test it again and be back to you with the exact error.

i go see on the web

ok done ! i used the jessie backport and even if the pakage seems to be unverified i own now virtualbox 5.2.x so then a gooood version.
so the next step will be to virtualize 64b systems on it, let me explain:
actually i made this bunsenlabs under already virtualbox in 64b. so as a second hyperviser of type 2, the second virtualbox only wants to install 32b version ? it is ok for me because the final step to get is to put the VHD image to a special harddrive case, a iodd 2541 wich is able to start on a VHD and then will agree i think to virtualize also 64b systems ?
i go make this later, after the first of january and will tell to you ^^
i go try some other things on my new vm and tell you so many thanx !
firts step is done, let's go to the next

Yes, the versions packaged by Debian will conflict with the versions from Oracle, that's where you are getting your "pipe" error.
And you still won't post the error messages you are getting (sigh), so I have to guess you were looking to add the GPG key for the Oracle repository, which is explained here: https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Linux_Downloads
A second-class workaround to to add [trusted=yes] after the "deb" in the repo source line, which skips the authentication. That's what I use for a local repo in a folder on my machine for pbuilder package builds. But you must trust the repo.

If you want to install the Debian version you should remove the Oracle package FIRST

hello both
yes i did too fast ! so i go to take the key inside the repository
which is:
http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/debian/
i go make it now.

hello all
i must admin i will stay a noob even if i tried to import the key of
http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/debian/
please can you tell me how to import the key of this url ?
i would be so great even if i actually own the 5.2.4 version of VirtualBox and then ready to virtualize some more.
and i go receive my iodd2541, the fabulous hd box in usb 3: my virtualisations will be in 64bits due to the fact this external hardrive make the VHD become the main system used and make the main VHD recognize the specs of the computer used i can't wait more to use it
regards and thanx by advance

^Issue on of the commands below, in terminal:
$ wget -q https://www.virtualbox.org/download/oracle_vbox_2016.asc -O- | sudo apt-key add -
or
$ wget -q https://www.virtualbox.org/download/oracle_vbox.asc -O- | sudo apt-key add -
I'm not sure which one, but if you do both, it should be a problem.

You're welcome yogi.
Let me say that I have followed the steps described on the aforementioned web page, and it have worked everytime (a few years ago, this year).
And finally (others were emphasizing this as well):
- what does it mean when you say "it doesn't work"?
- what exact error are you experiencing? what is the entire error message?
- what exactly did you install, and how?
Without those (precise) information, nobody will really be able to help you.
For example, only one version of the VirtualBox can coexist on your setup: either Debian-packaged, or VirtualBox-packaged. Which one did you install? Did you remove the other one?
