Sing Me Back Home - Merle Haggard

I've always loved this song, but I hadn't known that it was based on a true story. The man being executed is an inmate Haggard came to befriend while in San Quentin. The request wasn't made as explicitly as it is in the song, but it was clear what his friend wanted, and he obliged.

I teared up when he told the story.

"Sing me back home before I die."

Pink Floyd.

My all time favorite band, hands down, bar none.

Every other band that has been, is, or has yet to come is but a pale shadow compared to the Holiness that is but the mere outline of Floyd let alone their core.

The Gods of Music thought about blessing us with a good band and they did that with Nightwish. But like the Greek and Roman God's of yore, one time they came in flesh.

On that day they chose the name Pink Floyd and for many mortal years they toured the lands of Men bringing pure musical and poetic perfection to the flawed ears and shattered souls of Mankind. For a time Mankind was happy and at peace for because of the truly divine gift that had been bestowed upon them, a piece of the soul of the universe was revealed unto them. As they uplifted their heads and opened their ears, the flawless musical resonance of something so pure and perfect that cannot be denied by any who hear it - soothed their dark hearts.

One time the Universe gave to us the Gods of Music.

For one time and one time only the Gods of Music played the music of the universe for mankind.

Those God's were and will be forever known as Pink Floyd.
