@Nili, great catch. @nobody has added it to our website. Which looks fantastic, BTW.

Hi guys. I did a review of our dear BL for a tech blog in my country Serbia. If you want you can add it to In the press section. I got only positive feedback on it :-)
Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.

No really a review, but here you are: Periodic table of linux distros
Postpone all your duties; if you die, you won't have to do them ..

^Now that's great! I mean if there is a Windows or Mac user and you try to explain something like: "Well, Linux is actually not one single operating system but more like a bunch of different types called flavors and these systems - called distributions or distros - have sometimes a common base, so there are sort of distro-families too..." - this is the point where it comes to responses like: "Actually I'm quite satisfied with Windows and I have no worries about viruses because I have a really good virus scanner and I don't mind spying either because I have nothing to hide, etc. etc. etc." Instead of this that periodic table seems to be like a good start.

I mean if there is a Windows or Mac user and you try to explain something like:
Just tell them about how GUN/Linux operating systems only update themselves when you tell them to and they only take a few minutes to do it — the single most frustrating thing about Windows is the manner in which it hijacks the machine to update itself autonomously and how long it takes to complete the task, IMO.

^ Yea, something my wife’s cousin is absolutely amazed at for the past couple of week now. Linux she loves.

Or the fact that it decides to reboot while I am in the middle of something. There is even a nifty little package called needrestart that will toss you a notification when the machine actually needs a reboot in order to complete an upgrade. I typically install it on my Sid installs.

Shame they lumped Debian & Ubuntu together.. they really oughtn't to have.. especially since I like one and not the other.
The Windows 10 unasked for reboots can be tamed, at least, they can on pro, it'll still bug you about updates, but mine doesn't force me, I update and reboot when it's convenient to ME thanks to some group policy settings.
Blessed is he who expecteth nothing, for he shall not be disappointed...
If there's an obscure or silly way to break it, but you don't know what.. Just ask me

Ah yes but for the average user installing GNU/Linux will always be the path of least resistance, that's my point
It worked for me

^Dedoimedo isn't a fool, and nothing he says is really wrong, but he's approaching the distro from a different perspective. Not everyone will have his priorities.
He doesn't seem to know much about Debian though.

^ i dont think the 2/10 was very fair for having only skimmed the surface and it doesnt look like much due diligence was done in regards to figuring out how things work in Bunsenlabs and it shows in his review. For a review id give it 2/10.

It was so painful to read that I gave a quick look at a list of his articles, and I've found what I've been looking for.
In the article titled Why not Arch Linux? there is a part that matches antagonizing sentiment seen in BL review:
Linux distributions, in fact, any operating system, are there for the sole purpose of helping users enjoy themselves: watch movies, listen to music, play games, type an odd document or two. I find no purpose in maintaining systems for their own sake. It is almost a biological thing when pretty much all of the invested energy goes into feeding the self. Nope. I'm not here to nurture cyborgs.
Although this gives more background on where he came from in the BL review, it doesn't justify dishonest approach by displaying one dimensional user requirements.

I don't think I've ever seen a review in which all the features that I love, are exactly the opposite of what the reviewer is looking for.

Perhaps You're right.
But 2/10 is too unfair

If it ain't broke, then tweak it until it breaks.

I usually read this guy's posts, and generally think he's fairly well informed.
But I think 2/10 is completely undeserved, considering this comment in his conclusion:
>There wasn't anything cardinally wrong with the distro. But it's like walking into a store, >seeing something, and then you move on, because there was no magic.
I guess this undefined "magic" counts as the other 8/10 :-)

A review from Dedoimedo.
Not great, tbh.
He makes some valid points. I'm just wondering: "...even just add a screenshot tool shortcut..." - what does he mean? Add to where? To tint2? As a desktop shortcut? Or keyboard-binding?

Sorry, this may all be my fault — Dedoimedo posted a BL review earlier in which he couldn't make the ISO boot so I attempted to offer some advice via email but I think my lack of social skills may have caused him to interpret this in a spirit not intended

90% of dedoimedo's reviews are like that.
the sheer fact that bunsenlabs showed up on their radar should be a good thing.
the rest is just... well, dedoimedo. ripping apart everything for the entertainment of the masses. ha, ha.
