unable to access ipad

When I plug in my ipad2 ( ios 9.3.5) i'm able to see it in pcmanfm/thunar, but trying to access get lockdown error -256; also gigolo' shows the device but can't access it. My android phone works fine.
After the first install of Bunsenlabs about one year ago I remember it was working, maybe older ios? or maybe i broke something?

Probably, yes.

Apple fight a constant battle with the open-source community — they re-build the wall of their locked garden just as fast as we can knock the sucker down... 

Unfortunately, Debian jessie doesn't seem to have libimobiledevice so you may have to try Debian stretch or wait for BunsenLabs Helium.

Having said all that, I wouldn't touch an Apple device if you paid me so perhaps I'm wrong

Luckily for me, (unlukily for apple) my ipad is not upgradable anymore, so i'm wait for stretch/helium
