Hi folks,
So, today I have purchased a new laptop: Lenovo Ideapad 110 [15ISK]. It basically came with freeDOS so I removed it and installed latest BunsenLabs AMD64 ISO downloaded from BL installations page. The specs are Intel core i3-6006U Skylake processor, 4GB DDR4 RAM, Intel Integrated Graphics 520, 1 TB HDD. During the whole installation, laptop was connected to Ethernet.
At boot up, I noticed this message:
W: Possible missing firmware /lib/firmware/rtl_nic/rtl8107e-2.fw for module r8169
After successful installation, I came to know that WiFi is not working, only ethernet was working.
So while connecting through eth0, I updated the system, upgraded everything by running bl-welcome command.
So since it has Skylake processor, I installed the newer kernel and driver packages from Jessie back-ports after following >>this<< and >>this<< threads by HoaS.
Terminal output:
usr@debian:~$ sudo dmesg | grep iwl

I searched online for possible solutions and found this thread on Debian forums where HoaS has provided solution, but as I have already installed newer kernel and backported version of firmware package, I couldn't find any solution and as last, I have decided to post it here to find any possible solution. How do I solve this?
Any help would be greatly apprceiated. :8
Just in case I have made a HW probe of my system, which is here: https://linux-hardware.org/index.php?pr … bdf7a8f3f5

Try the latest firmware .deb from sid:
https://deb.debian.org/debian/pool/non- … -1_all.deb
It is "safe" to install that file with `dpkg -i iwlwifi*.deb` or gdebi but please *do not* add the sid repositories as they will break your system.
If that doesn't work then you may have to wait for the jessie-backports kernel to be updated to 4.12
Or try Arch Linux instead...
For the sake of completeness we should positively identify the card:
sudo update-pciids
lspci -knn | grep -iA2 net
Please post the output of the second command.

@OP: this might be interesting (see at the middle of the page, under 'WiFi'). It has the 3166 intel card in its 'lspci'.
It seems to be less 'invasive' than HoaS solution ... thus, appropriate to try first. (But, be prepared to revert the changes you have made.)

Postpone all your duties; if you die, you won't have to do them ..

That's a good find
However, I am working on the supposition that the reported card type is incorrect, hence my request for `update-pciids` to be run.
Your link claims support for the 3166 card is present in kernel 4.1 but the OP is already using a later version (4.9, I think).

Not really — I am advising installing the newer firmware via an official Debian .deb package (albeit from sid) whereas your link advises downloading the firmware direct from Intel and copying it in manually without the aid of APT.

^Oh, I agree with you.
Except about the 'invasiveness' ... what I meant is: less invasive to try if it works (it is only simple 'sudo cp', which is later easily reversed). Compared to 'dpkg' IMHO, which can try to install additional debs, admittedly with the 'help' of the user.
But, we derailed, perhaps the 'lspci -knn | grep -iA2 net' command will show what wireless card is in the laptop.

Quite true but in the case of firmware .debs this is not a concern because they have no dependencies.

HOLY COW! THIS IS AMAZING! IT WORKED! ]:D
I just installed the .deb and restarted bunsenLabs and I am now able to connect to WiFi with ease. Thank you HoaS for this.
**hugs HoaS**
WiFi is now UP:
Network: Card-1: Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165 Plus Bluetooth driver: iwlwifi
IF: wlan0 state: up mac: 3c:f8:.....
Also here is the output of the 2nd command as you requested:
usr@debian:~$ lspci -knn | grep -iA2 net

Kernel driver in use: r8169

Subsystem: Intel Corporation Device [8086:4210]

Once again, thank you very much. Have a great and wonderful day, kind sir! ]:D
@iMBeCil: Thanks to you as well for replying but now its solved.
Marking this as SOLVED.

Fantastic, glad you got it working
I hope you don't mind but I have taken the liberty of changing the thread title to make it easier for others to find this solution.

That would be great, if that helps others to find the solution more easily. Better.
