Changed up the color scheme of my conky. I'm working on doing the same for my .bashrc file

Note: I am using the older version of BL. I haven't upgraded my OS to RC1 yet. Is there a simple way to do that, or do I wipe and reload?

I'm not sure what you mean by "older version" but I do note that your Intel graphics card doesn't have direct rendering enabled, which is very strange.

Perhaps you should open a new thread describing how you got to your current set up if you wish to keep it.

Otherwise, I think re-installing using the ISO image would be best.

If you use UEFI, either take the netinstall + script route [1] (this will install a current system despite the "sub-alpha" thread title) or see my signature for converting the system post-install.

Why don't you try to dist-upgrade, before wiping it out?

Yes, Kwin takes 50 MB more RAM than OpenBox and a tad more than 50 compared with FluxBox. That's not a big issue. The problem with Kwin is the shitload of packages it pulls in. If you stick to Qt it's not that bad, but if you live in GTKland. That can be too much.

Not really, Snap, if you don't allow some "dependencies" to creep in.
The higher RAM in my system is because I had allowed some processes to run at startup, even though they could be disabled and call when needed. Only, those processes make life easy.

What I mean is same same system only changing WMs that's what it takes, About 50 MB difference. That's what my systems always reveal.

About dependencies, you cannot install kwin only even with no recommends. If you know how, please, report (in another topic)

This laptop has both an Intel card and an Nvidia GPU. I haven't loaded the bumblebee drivers.

What I meant earlier was that I am still running the pre RC1 version of BL on this machine. I've backed up my files that I care about and am going to run a dist upgrade and see what happens. If it dorks over no big loss.

I agree, and yet it reads 8.1.

Not a big deal. I probably broke my sources.list or something stupid. I'll reload the OS after work tomorrow.
