I have now installed a couple of apps that I would like to see on this menu:

At first, I thought this would be an easy task, but after reading this thread:
https://forums.bunsenlabs.org/viewtopic.php?id=3387
I only got more confused. I thought I was using the Openbox menu, but after checking its wiki I couldn't find anything in the rc.xml file, so I guess maybe I am using a debian menu?
Who knows, they all look the same to me ...
As an example, lets say I want to install Stremio to watch my youtube channels:
https://www.strem.io/
I already have everything in /opt/stremio/ and I can execute just fine.
But it is not in the menu, and I want it to be next to Terminal and Web Browser and such.
So I have the following questions:
1 - Which menu am I using after all ? ( I know I didn't install anything extra and this is a fresh install )
2 - How do I add Stremio to that menu? (just having the app name would be enough, no need for fancy icons)

I already posted you the links to Getting Started -> Introduction to the BunsenLabs Desktop; and where the help files are in the menu. Please have a read of them - there are step-by-step instructions there.
There is a gui menu editor in Preferences -> Openbox as well.
And the basic Openbox menu can't use icons BTW.

@fl4m3ph03n1x That thread you mentioned is about dynamic menus. What you are using now (out-of-the-box) is the Openbox menu, which is a static menu -> it means the menu entries won't get updated after you install an app.
In order to change the menu you have (the Openbox menu) and create all the entries for those apps, you have to do it manually. This is why some users prefer to have dynamic menus, which update the menu-structure automatically after something is installed (that thread is all about the different kinds of dynamic menus).
As damo mentioned there are those detailed descriptions for menu editing in the help section -> you can use that GUI Menu Editor or change manually Menu/Preferences/Openbox/Edit menu.xml If I understood you correctly, you'd like to create an entry after "Terminal" or "Web Browser", so after opening menu.xml check the appropriate place (somewhere around lines 50 - 60) and paste the appropriate code there.

I am starting to have the feeling I always, somehow, end up using the "less optimal" approach to my problem.
And by that I mean, I do forum and Google searches only to come to conclusions far more complex and useless than necessary ...
Anyway, thank you for your input! Your documentation shall not be wasted on me!

It appears from the picture you have an openbox Root Menu, which is edited in ~/.config/openbox/menu.xml. For more information, have a look at OPENBOX ROOT MENU, SUB-MENUS, PIPE MENUS .
