tint2 systraybar icons color: they keep going black

Hello everyone,

I have a problem with tint2: the icons in the sysbar turn black and I don't know why.

This is with this conf, which is just a few tweaks away from the default BL one.

Any idea?

Re: tint2 systraybar icons color: they keep going black

Please post the output from

tint2 -v

Which gtk and icon themes are you using? And can we see their package versions?

apt-cache policy <theme package>

Re: tint2 systraybar icons color: they keep going black

tint2 -v: tint2 version 0.11+svn20121014

I'm using faenza radiance. I tried switching back to faenza-bunsen but the icons are still black

$ apt-cache policy faenza-icon-theme
faenza-icon-theme:
  Installed: 1.3.1-1
  Candidate: 1.3.1-1
  Version table:
 *** 1.3.1-1 0
        500 http://deb.debian.org/debian/ jessie/main i386 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

Thanks for your help!

Re: tint2 systraybar icons color: they keep going black

I have noticed this with the Faenza icons with a Bunsen GTK theme, but I'm using tint2 version 0.14.6, on a Helium-dev (stretch) install. The default BL themes are broken in stretch anyway (bl**dy gtk updates again!).

Try installing our backported tint2, and see if that helps: enable the BL backports in your sources, and do

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get -t jessie-backports install tint2

I'd like to get to the bottom of this if there is something buggy going on. I thought it was just me and my system hmm

Re: tint2 systraybar icons color: they keep going black

Hi,
I installed tint2 from jessie-backports. Still the same problem.
Now the version is 0.14.6.

I tried using systray_icon_asb = 100 100 100 , but what happens is that in icons like guake or mumble, that have an image, it just becomes full white and I don't understand what they are when they add up.

Still better than before, but would be nice to know how to achieve the white icons with asb = 100 0 0 !

EDIT: this is how it loogs with asb 100 100 100

It has very likely nothing to do with tint2, but with the icon themes and how those applications select their tray icons.

Agreed. They display fine with the BL Beam theme (helium-dev) and Paper icon theme.
