Oh I see what you mean now ratcheer, no I guess I didn't really understand the full explanation, I just knew it had something to do with where the foot bends when we walk. Some shoe salesman a zillion years ago as a kid told me.
I hate ties too. Unfortunately in the military ... lat time I wore a tie I was at a 50th wedding anniversary, must be 8 years ago now.

Hey Sector11! I'm doing well for a geezer and recently survived a hilly hike on a stretch of the Rheinsteig above the Rhine River in Germany. Some of those vineyards are on steep slopes that appear close to vertical when you're looking either up or down. Unfortunately, the route we took had us climbing as well as descending. I'm still alive, so I guess the old ticker (and the meds) are doing what needs to be done.
How's winter in Buenos Aires?

Winter? What winter? It's the rainy season, and this is the wettest July on record. In the first week it beat the July average by twice the amount and hasn't stopped since. However I just got back from a flat hike along Laralde and Cabilldo with an umbrella. Would have loved to have been on that "Volksmarch" with you. Surely you didn't do the entire trail?
Yes of course I did Sector11 and did it in nine and a half hours too! ]:D
RIIIIIGHT!
Main thing is, our tickers and meds are doing what they are suppose to be doing.

Rainy season, eh? Got Wellies?
I didn't have time to hike the whole trail, which takes days to hike. We did a short loop of sorts--ca. 8-10 miles. It's hard to calculate because we more or less zig-zagged over hill and dale from where we started above Eltville then hiked to Kloster Eberbach and back.

Wellies - no, those are designer things - what I have is El Cheapo Rubber Boots! Had water come over the tops of those once, wanted to buy some waders but S12 was looking at me like she wanted to have me committed.
Sounds like you have a good time hiking. No idea where those places are, I was in the south west of Germany.
HEY - you changed your avatar ... now I'm getting nervous - what are you looking at? Hiking trails?

Thanks, I appreciate it !
As long as he can still eat biscuits and he doesn't have to dip them, good on him . I just read a long article about catering companies now putting more pureed meals on the menu. Pureed meat is where it's at now
.
I'll make sure to bring some Caramel Crunch and Hobnobs, hope that will keep him happy .

Ain't that the truth. Seems like the older I get, the faster the time goes. I guess that makes sense though since we're on the downward slope.

I prefer Bourbons to caramel crunch, but the HobNobs sound good

@KrunchTime - Remember when we were kids and summer seem to last forever! Now it's like "What!!! Autumn already!"

Yeah, it was then when three, four years seemed to be half a life-time. Soo much happened in only one year. Now it's, 'Oh, is it already Christmas again, where did the year go'. I guess it comes from slaving away, one day is like the other, and because you don't make any real new experiences any more the older you get. It's like watching TV - seen it all before. The sense of wonder and awe has gone.
Makes me laugh when 22 year old starlets write their memoirs and talk about their 'my entire life'.

OH MY! Now that put's it in perspective and explains why for a lot of things.
Thank barnabyh, Have a GREAT day!
Side Note: Say ... I could write "My Entire Life" in 3 volumes and have a few chapters on the 4th volume if 22 is the gauge for a lifetime. But I hear you, or even hearing some kid on the bus, "bla blah all my life time" ... yea kid, wait for it! Then I think, "Did I ever say stuff like that?" - yea, probably did.

Just had a great weekend with a reunion of my uni Graduation class - 40th anniversary About half of the original gang made it, including a couple over from the USA and Canada. Some retired, some still very active in the upper reaches of academia, and all looking pretty good.
One of them just led us on a geology field trip, along one of our old stamping grounds, for old time's sake. It's amazing how much you forget, when it isn't your job to remember this stuff!
I just had a look at my thesis - I think someone else, who was very clever, must have written it 8o

I've crossed the threshold from 6.9 to 7.0. A friend recently commented that I still look fit and walk like a 45-year old man. I have no idea how the average 45-year old man walks or if that's even a good thing.
