Dist upgrade from Jessie to Stretch

After reading KrunchTimes ordeal of dist-upgrade I figured why not.  I have an install here just itching to be borked. So earlier tonight (00:07 = last night now) I did it.

I took a Debian Jessie install, changed the sources list:

Always read the notes before attempting this.

Try an installation from one of our early ISO images (available from all good magazine shops, apparently) and immediately switch to stretch before updating & dist-upgrading and watch in awe as the mighty APT shrugs off over two years of version bumps and delivers a bootable system afterwards  cool

and looking at that ... at the bottom of the Table of Contents:

Sometimes, changes introduced in a new release have side-effects we cannot reasonably avoid, or they expose bugs somewhere else. This section documents issues we are aware of. Please also read the errata, the relevant packages' documentation, bug reports, and other information mentioned in Section 6.1, “Further reading”.

[Fake scenario] So after reading the entire Debian Wiki I have decided to wait for the new ISO to come out.

On a more serious note: Chapter 4 would be a great read before trying.  At least it's a fresh install and no vital info would be lost IF installing to a fresh partition.
