Aha yes, there is that aspect.  Gravity sucks the energy right out of us and we get older we have less energy to resist!

Gravity is like the Borg: Resistance is futile!   lol

Going uphill means losing kinetic energy (speed) but gaining potential energy.
We can leave parts of our burden behind us, for speedy youngsters to catch and carry.

I now have enough potential energy to power our entire civilization.

^ Sounds like frequent urinary urgency often associated with BPH. In my case, bee pollen seems to be as, if not more, effective than the drugs my first urologist prescribed.  On a good day, I can cover a mile or two. :8

Re: The Over-the-Hill-BunsenGang Thread

Welcome you young whipper snapper.

Well, you can claim that Oak one in the corner .... once you get the dust off and fix the hind leg.  Poor "Rusty" he was a big dude, snapped that sucker in half, just sitting in in one day.

Eleventy thirteen he was, and the tales he' could tell!

BTW, Leave a note on the back claiming it as your and that's that, Rusty would be happy so see it in use again.

Hey, you don't keep you're biscuit tin in the OTHBG Room, I didn't think there was reason to mention them. tongue

HEY Krunch, count your fingers, coddle them, sweet talk them into not touching damo's biscuit tin or OOPS!  damo gets a tad upset if someone touches his biscuits.

Re: The Over-the-Hill-BunsenGang Thread

This seems like a good thread to mention my most recent big peeve.

I am 66 years old, and I recently learned something new that I feel like I should have picked up on decades ago: how to measure my feet for shoes. A shoe salesman in a Dick's Sporting Goods clued me in last week. You don't just measure your size by heel-to-toe, there is a separate thingy on the sizing device to measure heel-to-ball. If the measurements are different, you are supposed to get the larger size. My measurements are two full sizes different! I have been wearing my shoes two sizes too small for most of my life. No wonder my feet have always hurt!

Am I the only person who didn't know about this?

Here is verification: https://brannock.com/pages/instructions-fitting-tips Brannock is the company that makes the ubiquitous foot measuring device.

Re: The Over-the-Hill-BunsenGang Thread

I knew... have seen and used those in Canada all my life.

Bet your feet feel happy now?  And you probably have to get use to 'all that room'.  Do you feel like you're walking with swim fins?

Happy trekking ratcheer!

===
BUT I have not had my feet measured with one of those in 17 years, or since I came to Argentina.  And have not had a proper fit since being here.  But I ALWAYS make sure I 'bend' my feet back to front and if I feel my toes touching the front of the shoe, boot - "Next size please!"

I've actually had salesmen lean down, touch in front on my big toe, "You don't need the next size."

"Next size please"  Scheech ... they're my feet.

Like jeans or regular pants ... everyone in Argentina is 6'6" and jeans/pans are hemmed for people that size.

So if you are 5' 7" like me take your jeans/pants to a tailor (they are everywhere) to have them cut and re-hemmed.  Even in an official "Levi outlet" - 40" inseam different waist sizes ... the the inseam - all the same.

Oh, I have always used them, too. I just never knew about taking two different measurements and using the largest. It seems very odd that in all those years, no one ever explained it to me.

Re: The Over-the-Hill-BunsenGang Thread

I am fortunate in having "average" feet, so shoe fit has rarely been a problem. Mind you I generally wear outdoor shoes/boots, or trainers - I loathe formal or business footwear.

Hey, fashion is catching up with me again: ties are on the way out! Since my 20's I have avoided any job that requires shirt+tie wink
