Looks like have picked up some changes after the last apt update/upgrade cycle. It looks to me as if the system font has been made larger, but certainly terminal windows which were being sized explicitly from my .Xresources and bash aliases are now coming up bigger than before - they used to fit onto my monitors in a specific way, but are now larger than before and the text is definitely larger, indicating something wacky going on with font sizing.
Also on reboot, have noticed that my conky display is now too tall for the monitor, implying the same issue.
Anyone aware of any recent changes in Debian testing which could cause this, or where to start looking ? My .Xresources sets the DPI to 96 and xdpyinfo is now reporting
dimensions: 3840x1080 pixels (1027x292 millimeters)
resolution: 95x94 dots per inch
Not sure what it was before though, my other box is reporting 100x100 but that is running headless, so not sure what it reports is accurate when using Xvfb etc.
Any pointers gratefully received as this is annoying ;-<

Yup I am using nvidia, and there were a few changes in a recent update which seemed to cause quite a few packages to be removed in the last but round of updates I did.... Have re-installed nvidia-settings and all looks good, it does feel like a scaling / DPI issue but not seeing where from at the moment.... Thanks !

Changing my font sizes for urxvt and conky from Deja Vu Sans Mono 10 to 9, looks to have returned my terminal sizes and conky display to the correct sizes. Very weird indeed...

Does xrandr show the available screen resolutions?
Also it would be helpful to know what you did, your graphics hardware etc. Did you install the kernel headers for nvidia? Did you run nvidia-xsettings in a tty before restarting the X server? etc

xrandr shows the correct resolution, and indicates it is using them on both monitors.
gfx card is GeForce GTX 750 Ti
In apt upgrade changes yesterday or the day before, I noticed some nvidia packages being removed and others being upgraded. Didn't think anything of it, until I noticed that this had caused libGL to be removed from my headless box, which broke Xvfb. Fixed that by installing libgl1-nvidia-glx on the second box.
Didn't make any changes on my primary, but did a restart yesterday as I noticed on app was running a bit jerky and figured I should pick up the updated files via a reboot. This fixed the issue.
Earlier today I started a new terminal and noticed the font sizes looked larger than normal, and window size was also increased. Just trying to apply updates from the nvidia-settings tool now... all fun and games !
