How to run Plex software?

I downloaded and installed Plex using the Package Installer. No errors reported.  But now I don't know how to get it running. All the executables are located here: /usr/lib/plexmediaserver.

Re: How to run Plex software?

Have you searched for a HowTo? This was near the top of the results when I did it...
Setup Plex Media Server on Debian 8

(Ignore the install method - you seem to have done that already)

What is this mysterious "Package Installer" of which you speak?

There is no "plex" package in the Debian or BunsenLabs repositories (that I can find), did you use gdebi to install the (Ubuntu) .deb package from the website?

Have you tried

start_pms

It should be under /usr/sbin if the .deb installed correctly.

Re: How to run Plex software?

I did use gdebi. It executed because I clicked on the downloaded application from the Plex website:plexmediaserver_1.5.7.4016-25d94bad9_amd64.deb. Was that the wrong thing to do?

I will review the link posted by damo.

For whatever it's worth. I am very new to Linux.  I appreciate everyone's suggestions.

No, that method should be "safe" as gdebi will refuse to install .debs that cause dependency conflicts.
