[SOLVED] running octave

Hello.I've installed octave 3.8.2 via synaptic manager but I have problem running it.I can properly run it on terminal but I want to use the GUI.I tried to open "octave" via "run program" but nothing happened even though I didn't get any error.Any suggestions?

Re: [SOLVED] running octave

Octave is a commandline utility, so using the run box won't do anything, unless you use a command to run a terminal and pass the octave command.

Did you install a  gui? AFAICS  the only package might be octave-zenity.

Thanks for the instant reply mate!Nop, just installed the octave from synaptic.I'm pretty sure I used octave with a gui on another distro.I installed zenity but not sure how it works.

OK smile

I'm marking this as solved (you can do this yourself next time by editing the title of your first post wink )

Also moving to Gui & Applications.

Re: [SOLVED] running octave

Believe Octave 4.0 and later uses the GUI as default when you start it.
