LXDE -> LxQt

Since LXDE development has ended, will bunsenlabs eventually use the LxQt tools to the detriment of LXDE tools?

I think this post at stackexchange explains it quite well.

Re: LXDE -> LxQt

LXDE is actively maintained (see https://github.com/lxde; submissions in the last few days). Their blog (source for news and press) and home page contain no end-of-life statements. Supported in Stretch. Shouldn't be an issue to consider until Buster or possibly Bullseye.

PCManfm is a darn good file manager and you can even use it to connect via ssh to another machine on your network to copy files back and forth for example. Thunar has no such option.

How easily can one replace thunar with pcmanfm as the default filemanager?

Very easily:

sudo update-alternatives --config bl-file-manager

Or use the galternatives entry in the Openbox menu, @johnraff wrote a very nice explanation of the Debian (and BunsenLabs) alternatives system that can also be viewed from the menu wink

Awesome! I am playing with a BL install in Virtualbox now. Got a nice setup so far and even gotten my HP printer working with it.

Re: LXDE -> LxQt

I did play with LXQT (using Siduction distro) and it is not too bad really. LXQT spin of BL might be nice even as an experimental edition.

Maybe a HOWTO on setting up LXQT on BL may be a nice idea.

There is an option to "Connect to Server" where you can connect to a remote location using ssh or ftp protocol.
