Hi fellows, today I got Thunderbird in my freshly installed BL, and still cannot setup my account.
As usual, I'm asked to create a Ghandi email account or else use an existing one, which I did.
The rest is pretty much explained in the capchas below.
The actual problem is that Thunderbird freezes in the "Enter credentials" pop-up window. I can type my address in the box, and that's it. All the other links and buttons (i.e."Next") don't work.
Has any of you experienced this issue?

^ The solution from that thread OP is looking for is to create an application-specific 16-character access token and use that as a password to log into the Gmail account, not one of the other "workarounds". Here's the documentation. Works all the time, I use it with fetchmail.
I guess what Thunderbird (in Debian) fails to do correctly ATM is following this Google-specific oauth2 for IMAP/SMTP protocol.

Update: I'm afraid App Password does not work.
According to the release notes, the problem is fixed in Thunderbird 52.1.0.
Let's see what happens, I'll post as soon as anything new comes up.
EDIT: Now it's finally working in v52, so I'll marked this as [SOLVED]
