Re: bring back the fortune popups?

Maybe Disney has gotten hip enough that they won't mind their character quoting awebb.

/humour

We could GIMP Beaker's image up a bit and claim artistic license. Make his hair the BL flame or something.

Re: bring back the fortune popups?

@johnraff, see the demo script, just taking "3 words per second + sometime' seems close enough. 'Sometime' is probably a second or two (I have it at zero in the script).

Re: bring back the fortune popups?

^Yes, the initial delay for users to spot that the popup has arrived seems to be necessary. The main point is that it's open long enough I guess. A couple of seconds extra will do no harm, especially since we're on a desktop here, not a smartphone where the message might block the whole screen.

What if they say no?  yikes

They didn't seem bothered by Statler and Waldorf images as used by @corenominal.

Brilliant, even. You said Minky.

What a shame, that cuts off where he explains the procedures required for an idiot to become an officer of the leu.

about notify-send: do you really need a timer for that? isn't it enough to trust in existing notification daemon configuration (and the user's customization thereof)?

But yes, a .deb in the BL repo would be nice.

An image of both of them next to each other would be great! I mean they *are* indeed a team!

I'm definitely for this obviously... And I don't think licensing would be an issue, we don't sell or attempt to make money off of the distribution of Bunsenlabs.

Now not to add burdens... but having an ASCII image of Beeker and or Bunsen with the quotes that comes up as a Welcome banner, for people who use non-gui sessions would be appreciated! tongue

hehe,  lol   I'm only half joking..  wink

Probably, in fact. Most of these quotes are pretty short, right?

I'm still using a customized fortune with quotes from the Tao Te Ching that Rhowaldt made back in #!, and some of those are a bit long, so they do indeed fade away before I've finished reading. I could just extend the time setting...

Re: bring back the fortune popups?

As long as the feature only runs when referenced under ~/.config/openbox/autostart, I really don't care one way or the other.  I don't use the feature personally, so I'll just remove it.

Re: bring back the fortune popups?

^Yes, even now there's a commented-out call to bl-fortune in autostart.
bl-fortune doesn't yet exist, but when it does, if we enabled that line it would only apply to new installs, and of course users would be free to remove it.
