trouble with updating

I wanted to install the lamp stack so I ran the welcome bl-welcome script. I got an error first time. I then wanted to post in here and ran the script again but this time I was getting a new error allready in the start of the script.

W: Failed to fetch http://repos.fds-team.de/stable/debian/dists/jessie/InRelease

W: Failed to fetch http://repos.fds-team.de/stable/debian/dists/jessie/Release.gpg Could not resolve 'repos.fds-team.de'

W: Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

I am not able to get any further, and I get the same error if I try to upgrade packages from terminal. The weird thing is I did not get this error first time I ran the bl-welcome script.

Re: trouble with updating

repos.fds-team.de/stable/debian/dists/jessie/InRelease
is this a standard debian mirror, or is it some fancy repo you added?
anyhow, it seems to not be responding.

Re: trouble with updating

Hi Damo, can you recomend a mirror, or is there any rules to choose the best one, closest geographical or other?

@ohnonot that was a question, I asked myself, but I dont think I would change the main debian mirror, not knowingly anyway.

Re: trouble with updating

I'm not @damo, but for our newest ISO test images we've been using the following...

deb http://cdn-fastly.deb.debian.org/debian jessie main non-free contrib
#deb-src http://cdn-fastly.deb.debian.org/debian jessie main non-free contrib

deb http://security.debian.org/ jessie/updates main contrib non-free
#deb-src http://security.debian.org/ jessie/updates main contrib non-free

# jessie-updates, previously known as 'volatile'
deb http://cdn-fastly.deb.debian.org/debian jessie-updates main contrib non-free
#deb-src http://cdn-fastly.deb.debian.org/debian jessie-updates main contrib non-free

I don't care what you do at home. Would you care to explain?

Did you read the link I gave?

Use the site closest to you for the fastest downloads possible whether it is a primary or secondary site. The program netselect can be used to determine the site with the least latency; use a download program such as wget or rsync for determining the site with the most throughput. Note that geographic proximity often isn't the most important factor for determining which machine will serve you best.

Also note that sites sometimes go down for maintenance etc, so updates fail as you have found. Wait a while, or choose another mirror.

Also have a look at http://httpredir.debian.org/

@Damo, not close enough apparently, but thanks for taking the time pointing it out.
