Howzit?

Hi Everyone,

Grobister here, just found this distro and quite keen on it already.
Like the sane defaults and would like to begin contributing right away.

doing a lot of Android and PHP dev at the moment. So was thinking of making php7 and option for the lamp target. Any feelings on that?

Thanks

Thanks for registering, and welcome!

Your question is out of my area of *ahem* expertise, but since BL is a Debian derivative...

I don't care what you do at home. Would you care to explain?

Re: Howzit?

Oh, I have no problem setting it up.

I was talking about making it an option in the post-install script.
i.e. is anyone interested in that smile

LAMP is already an option in the bl-welcome Development tools section

  INSTALL LAMP STACK
  ------------------

Would you like to install Apache2 webserver with PHP scripting support and
  MySQL database server?

If you choose to do this, the following packages will be installed:

      bunsen-meta-lamp

Note: additional packages listed as dependencies will also be installed.

Would you like to install LAMP stack? [y/N]

So either re-run bl-welcome, or

sudo apt-get install bunsen-meta-lamp

PHP version 7 is only currently available from the Debian development branches:

https://packages.debian.org/stretch/php7.0

As such, the next release of BunsenLabs (Helium) will almost certainly use PHP7 as part of the LAMP stack.

EDIT: I personally favour the BCHS stack but that's not something we can offer in `bl-welcome`...  ]:D

I have already upgraded all my PHP code to require PHP7, so for now I'm using the dotdebs repo. I'm quite partial to that stack too. But I need to do android programming
