System -> Printers -> Configure Printers crashes

Dear All

I connected a new laser printer via USB to my laptop computer.
Add new printer is showing the new device in the left column window correctly.
The following dialogue is searching for drivers and crashes/vanishes almost immediately ...
Any idea what i can do ?

Trying to add the printer manually via http://localhost:631 does not work as well.
In the password dialogue neither user root or my regular username is getting access to the add printer dialogue. I am stuck ...

Thx. for any help.

Re: System -> Printers -> Configure Printers crashes

Hi

In the meantime i launched system-config-printer via sudo via the command line.
Maybe this output shed's some light on how to solve this issue ...

No ID match for device usb://RICOH/SP%20112%20DDST?serial=X025M430560:

Unfortunately there is no way to add this printer via localhost:631 as well. Whatever user/pw combination i try access is refused ...

And yes - i did follow the special instructions for installing this gdi printer via the experimental driver already.
