Re: Installation failed [SOLVED]

Can you give us details on how you partition your target drive?

Re: Installation failed [SOLVED]

Is it something to do with how software reacts with your hardware? Maybe, the power to the usb hub is cut off when you try to install? You being a software developer.

Default option - "Use full drive".

I not using usb hub - my 8gb flash was plugged directly to the system block.
But as something interesting - even at red screen I saw the flashing light of hdd activity.

Re: Installation failed [SOLVED]

Forget the hub part. While trying to install, your hardware cuts off power to the usb. Computer must be overheating. In my Intel laptop such things happened, but after cleaning the ventilator vents, that problem went away. I have not used an AMD computor for years, so don't know how AMD's problem with overheating. .

Re: Installation failed [SOLVED]

^ Of course, you can "install" any Debian/Ubuntu live distro without "burning" the iso to a cd/dvd/usb or using the "installer." https://forums.bunsenlabs.org/viewtopic … 3172#p3172

Re: Installation failed [SOLVED]

Can you boot into the live system and verify that the target flash drive has been partitioned and can be mounted.
Has it been formatted for MBR or GPT?
Also the output of

sudo /sbin/parted /dev/sdX
parted> p

Replace X with the correct drive number.

Fedora (with spins) can correctly install and work - I tested this few times.

vitaly, let me recap:

- so you can dd a fedora (or spin) to a usb, and use it both in live mode and install it.
- debian based distros do not work; some of them work ok in live mode, but all fail during installation.

correct?

in that case it can't be a failing hardware problem.

let's just go step-by-step, starting with what xaos52 suggested.
if you're patient & able to provide output, we will get there eventually!

Re: Installation failed [SOLVED]

I am surprised no one has mentioned "cp" command to make bootable iso image usb

# cp debian.iso /dev/sdX
# sync

Debian 12 Beardog, SoxDog and still a Conky 1.9er

Re: Installation failed [SOLVED]

I tried cp and different USB drives, I even tried cp image to first HDD and try to install to second HDD... Sometimes installer can't load files before installing, sometimes even installer can't load (Kernel panic), sometimes installation stopping by red screen at ~13% ...

^ You wrote

Fedora Mate x64 working fast.

So, if you can have Fedora on one partition and use its grub, you can put BunsenLabs RC1 on another partition and use the Fedora grub to boot BunsenLabs for you. Can you do that?

Re: Installation failed [SOLVED]

Hi all, I'm sharing this confirming that for some reason you could be always on the "Nightmare_Installation_failed_situation". Expecially on OLD laptop. You gotta deal with that chance.
First I like to point out here that it is also possible to extract the "bl-Hydrogen-i386.iso" on a MULTISYSTEM usb stick ending with a full great installation. Cool isn't it? To do so download the iso extract it inside the MULTISYSTEM usb and run the TEXT INSTALL. It will break for no CD-ROM found. Alt-F2 and type "umount /dev/sdX" (just check your usb path with "df -h" probably /dev/sdb1). Then it will install without problems. Unfortunately it will end up with no grub install. But we have faith. Now you can choose to re-install everything via "DriveDroid".
Or you could run the LiveCD session updating repositories and installing the grub-pc.
And also you could boot "systemrescuecd" and re-install grub like described here :
https://www.system-rescue-cd.org/Sysres … maged-Grub.

Your choice.

Another AMAZING thing I've found out is you can than make a Clonezilla ISO of your brandnew install and restore it inside a different laptop ... The OpenBox SuperCool Envinronment is very open minded !!!
So cool wink

Thx for sharing this and Happy Bun-Banging to everybody !!! wink
