Any thoughts from anyone what the underlying issue is here? I'm just curious what's stopping you from removing the package you installed. Malvidx, when you restore your partitions can you do another fdisk -lu and a du -h
after you set everything up?

Understandable...how are you going to partition it this go 'round? Same as before? Could you still post your partition table when you're done?

its that stupid katoolin that someone on the bunsenlabs irc channel told me to install.
You mean this katoolin - katoolin gitm page
Kali linux is based on Debian Testing, so if those repos got added your system probably got borked - HOAS is right, nuke it from orbit. Depending on what you need to install, a root partition larger than the 8.2G (based on your df -h output) might be the way to go.
As a side issue for the mods - maybe have some trolls on the bunsenlabs irc advising people to install packages for testing/sid?

I wasnt sure how to partion it so i did guided use entire disk. I thought it would be safest. If thats not the case is there a website that walks me through it?

Not needed. Some folk are quite willing to do it themselves despite the advice in bl-welcome

Well I don't think there's one 'right' way to do it... just various levels of efficiency depending on your goal. Begs the question though, if you weren't really familiar with partitioning, what made you use an LVM set up last time?
The guided partition is definitely a good place to start

I may not have been clear. The op was advised on the irc to install packages meant for a distro based on testing. Is the irc moderated, are there some people there giving out bad/dangerous advice that should be asked to stop?

I only visited a couple of times. I don't think it's moderated. But I think someone who's given advice in the chat, should take it like they would from anyone. Look into the advice, before blindly trying it. Even the advice given on these forums, should be handled the same way. It's a smart idea to do a quick look up or atleast be prepared that the advice given may or may not be 100% accurate and accept that responsibility.

The Bunsen irc is like a ghost most times, as far as chatter.
op's op on irc
<malvidx> does anyone know of a way to use kali tools on bunsenlabs?
<anoki> yes
<anoki> malvidx, be warned though it may covert some of your start up scripts and files to kali, like boot screen ect
I read through it and my head hurts. Nuke it, Nuke it , and nuke it.

^A ghost IRC channel is really not good, especially for noobs seeking for advice (according to my experiences). I do not know how the #bĺ channel is managed but I always appreciated channels which ensured that there is at least one experienced user who cares about questions. In its glory days the #! channel used to have a really great community, I can remember some fun chats.

I am not aware of any presence on the IRC channel(s) by any of the development team, although I may be wrong.
Thanks for the heads-up, I will look into this.
