Re: November 2016 Screenshots

OK, you will have to bear with me here 'cos I haven't figured out the networking and the suggested screenshot technique doesn't seem to work for me but here is a shot of my laptop screen running the 9front operating system:

IMG_20161120_103525.th.jpg

The stats system monitor is in the top left with the mothra web browser running to the right and an acme & terminal window open below.

It is using the rio window system which directly manipulates the pixel display without the need for an X server or any of that nonsense.

@HoaS
Enjoyed a lot watching their propaganda, comparisons with true events seems very creative.

I not seem to find myself on that distro (due to my inability), but since you're there hope you've fun.

Arch Linux running (Yamagi) Quake II, playing online deathmatch with the Lithium mod:

Join the fun:

The baseq2 folder can be obtained by using playonlinux (or WINE directly) to install the Windows Steam client and purchasing and downloading the game from http://store.steampowered.com/app/2320/

A snip at £3.99...

@mi - awesome indeed.

Xmonad with Xfce4 panel and conky with own_window_type set to panel. Loaded the ewmh and minimize hook so wndows can be iconified and make the taskbar more useful:

Re: November 2016 Screenshots

Due to a hardware failure i'm now limited on my poor little raspberry pi sad . good news is i'm still on debian (raspbian in fact) and surprisingly this cute single board performs very well as a desktop-computer big_smile . I use e17 here on this scrot, but a bunsenlike setup (ynow openbox, tint n conky) is my next goal...

Did you ever try PiBang? It was a Crunchbang setup ported to the RasPi (including GIMP was a bit ambitious though!)

^ Sorry for the thread drift, but there is a BunsenLabs ARM version. Presumably that can be installed on a Pi?

It was quite simple actually, just a matter of following the instructions smile

The only undocumented issue was dual booting with Arch but thankfully UEFI makes this much easier than it used to be.

Anyway, I haven't finished installing it yet -- the ISO is 32-bit only so I need to cross-compile a 64-bit kernel & binaries to get access to all of my 8GiB of RAM.

The alien nature of the system naturally leads to some confusion -- do you remember how it was the first time you used Linux?

Plan 9 (from which 9front was forked) was an attempt to provide a better alternative to the UNIX standard, it is a tantalisingly familiar environment but rather different once you start to configure things.

will we get detailed installation instructions?
