[SOLVED]Deja-dup Backup

I want to use deja-dup to backup my home directory to a local USB stick. However, on bl deja-dup requires that I setup an account on Amazon S3, and backup to the cloud.

I searched the forum for deja-dup and got no responses. I use deja-dup on Debian jessie 8.6 to backup to a USB drive. I also use deja-dup on Ubuntu 16.04 without this issue. Is there a way to by-pass the initial screen that asks to establish an Amazon account, and get to the matter of backing up to local file?

BL and Debian jessie 8.6 both use the exact same version of that program.

Check the output of:

apt-cache policy deja-dup

Commanding deja-dup gives the screen with the request to create an Amazon S3 account, but entering in a terminal window the command:

deja-dup-preferences

Opens the windows that allow a user to select restoring from a backup or making a backup, select folders/subfolders to include, selecting folders/subfolders to exclude, where to make the backup, and if you want the backup operation performed on a periodic schedule (daily, weekly, monthly,etc). In my case the backup location was a local folder on a plugged in USB stick identified as follows:

/media/username/1CXX-YYYY/blBackup

This works the same as it does on Debian jessie, and Ubuntu. Very simple to use. I do suggest excluding .config and .cache from your home directory to keep the backup small. If you have edited the ~/.config/openbox menu files, be sure to include them in the folders to be saved. You can then exclude the rest of the folders in the .config directory . If you use Dropbox, exclude it and the .dropbox and .dropbox-dist files in your home directory.
