To examine disk usage, try ncdu.

Use ncdu , responsibly , plenty of power in that little d Key !

Many thanks , ( Partition grown, into adjacent free space - gparted )
and 4G of cloned files removed  ,
machine soon to be re-installed , and looked after more responsibly .

Many thanks everyone  , plenty of usefull tips have been gathered  .

( And lessons learned , Stay on topic .. as meandering confuses others )

... sometimes your logs may not look normal !

I also gained a new Tool for my "Tool box"

  ncdu   ... ( reminds me of  a long lost - Non GUI past  ) ..cli days
