Hey all ,
So, I bought an Sound Blaster Audigy FX because I was gifted a sweet sound system that required the extra jacks to plug into for the full 5.1 surround audio experience.
It took some doing but I finally got it working better than a static buzz across the speakers whenever I tried to use it; I installed ld10k1 and alsa-tools and now I'm getting actual sound out of the speakers! Yay!
But for some reason the Audigy cuts out about 30 seconds (give or take, but always close to this) and I'm not sure why. Any initial suggestions?
This is on my desktop, running Linux Mint:
4.2.0-25-generic #30~14.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Mon Jan 18 16:25:56 UTC 2016 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Anything in the kernel ring buffer immediately after the sound cuts out?
dmesg|tail
If there are many messages you can open a terminal window and use `dmesg -w` to "watch" the messages until the sound fails.

Now I'm getting the static again. Not sure what's changed... I'm not even getting to the place where it's working and then cuts out.

After grappling with it for a while, I ended up reinstall Linux Mint from a fresh download. The sound card is working fine now, so something between Mint and the Kernel must have caught up to this hardware in the meantime? Sorry I don't have more specifics.

OK, no worries, thanks for the update.
