I have tried to install Dashware on Wine but since my 'manual' Wine skills are gone I resorted to Playonlinux. The install seems to work OK. However, Dashware crashes when I try to run it. It actually runs a little -- setting up a Dashware folder in my home directory -- then it crashes. Here is what Playonlinux tells me:
[08/28/16 12:53:25] - Running wine-1.9.12 DashWare.exe (Working directory : /home/martin/.PlayOnLinux/wineprefix/Dashware/drive_c/Program Files (x86)/DashWare)
The entry point method could not be loaded
I think I have a Mono/.NET clash. Mono is there by default in Wine/Playonlinux and Dashware's installation script pulls in .NET.
The instructions halfway down the Wine web page on .NET makes sense but I fail to follow the instructions -- because of using Playonlinux I think. Installing Dashware and setting up a Wine virtual drive is one process in Playonlinux and as far as I can remember there was no opt out of Mono (but then the eyes are the first thing you go blind on).
I guess I should try again from scratch and pay closer attention to possible options in Playonlinux...
Any leads?
TIA,
/Martin
