I'm posting this here purely for google syndication to pick it up, for whatever reason this is the first site that came up when I googled "HP Trackpoint not working linux" there really was no information on this even in HP's service manuals and the average zif has the silver side twards the board. so doubtless there are probably a few others who made this mistake too. I'm sorry if i'm breaking any rules, especially on my first post, but this is for everyone's benefit. and yes, I actually use Bunsenlabs. Thanks for resurrecting my favorite ultralight linux distro!
YOU INSTALLED THE ZIF FOR THE TouchStyk UPSIDE DOWN WHEN YOU PUT THE LAPTOP BACK TOGETHER, TAKE THE KEYBOARD BACK OUT AND REORIENT THE SMALLER ZIF CABLE WITH THE SILVER SIDE FACING UPWARDS, THEN PUT IT BACK IN THE SLOT.
(this information wasn't on ANY HP service manuals)
