It's interesting that you have a VM Bunsen since that's my most common interaction with it also. I use Windows 7 at work for the day to day, and keep a bunsen VM for all the "good" stuff. Since there is no bash on Win7 that's quite right.
I was using Babun for awhile, and it was better than most, but Cygwin !=== real linux. Not that I'm anywhere near skilled enough to say it's bad, but it's not the same.

The recent Windows 10 Anniversary Update includes a bash command prompt in Windows. It's described roughly as being the opposite of wine. No server or GUI stuff can be run, but it's supposed to be a fully compatible bash environment in Windows. I haven't tested it yet, but it looks interesting.
I'll probably install Hydrogen in a VM at home on my Windows machine (needed only for gaming and iTunes) and would like to install it along-side Windows XP on my work machine.

I have a VM of the "Windows Insider" build of Win 10, and I got the Bash shell for that. It's actually quite good. One of the most compelling reasons to upgrade for me.
