wallpaper and multiple monitors

I bring my laptop to and from my office every day, where I plug it into an external monitor in the morning and unplug it before going home.

I have two arandr profiles, one for two monitors, and one for the single monitor, that I open when I connect and disconnect the external monitor. This works fine.

However, often when I disconnect the external monitor and open the "single" arandr profile, my desktop wallpaper gets messed up - it goes from filling my (HiDPI) screen to tiling, or a kind of messed-up tiling. Re-connecting the external monitor and opening the "dual" profile fails to fix it, as does restarting the compositor. The only solution is to log out and log back in.

This is a minor issue, but it bugs me. Any thoughts on how to fix it?

Re: wallpaper and multiple monitors

i think nitrogen has a command called "restore".
that's what would have to be called via udev.

Re: wallpaper and multiple monitors

Udev rule is the way to go. p.s. In vbox I just start a script like this in background (via autostart) and that works as well.
