Re: roxterm geometry

Have you tried Preferences → Edit Current Profile → Size then set it to 60 Width and 20 Height?

It saves the settings for me with the version from the Debian jessie repositories.

What system are you running? Is this AntiX?

How did you install roxterm?

My system saves the file here:

empty@TheLab:~$ cat ~/.config/roxterm.sourceforge.net/Profiles/Default
[roxterm profile]
colour_scheme=
width=60
height=20

Do you have a similar fle?

What happens if you create one yourself?

Re: roxterm geometry

Which window manager are you using, evilwm?

I tried it in cwm and have the same issue - the terminal remains small even when I manually edit the configuration file referenced above.

cwm was origianlly derived from evilwm so there may be a shared incompatibility with roxterm. Try roxterm in a different window manager if you have one installed and see what happens.

And ROXterm has been "put to sleep" so maybe you'll want to go with another terminal anyway.

Re: roxterm geometry

seems related to this bug: https://sourceforge.net/p/roxterm/bugs/125/
which also seems to be the main reason for putting roxterm to sleep.

i don't know about debian, but onthe AUR there's a roxterm-gtk2 package.
with the help of the information in this PKGBUILD you could build it yourself on debian.

^ Or just install the jessie package in stretch.

Re: roxterm geometry

How are you starting your terminal, the default keybinding for evilwm, or another key grabber like xbindkeys?

Both lxterminal and sakura have a similar user interface to roxterm and can be started with geometry specifications. Both work well with cwm, so I'm assuming they will work with evilwm.

Urxvt and xterm (uxterm) are good terminals for minimal window managers, their default size can be set in your ~/.Xresources. Urxvt can be started with tabs if you want those.

As long as you use the roxterm-gtk2 package, yes.

Which appears to be in sid:
