Volume Up/Down Rate Discrepancy Between Volti and PulseMixer

Raising and lowering the volume in Volti (up/down keys) doesn't match what's shown in PulseMixer. Volti reports the volume lowering at a linear rate (set to 5, ATM), but Pulse reports a varying drop of 0.75 or 1.5 dB. Percentage-wise, PulseMixer appears to be the accurate one whereas Volti would report volume at 50%, but it's actually at 23%.

Has anyone else seen this issue? What further information can I provide?

Edit:
Yes. It's logarithmic, but that still doesn't account for the discrepancy. Extra content from amixer below.

First push - dropped 16%:

Front Left: Playback 55142 [84%] [on]
Front Right: Playback 55142 [84%] [on]

Second push - dropped 15%:

Front Left: Playback 45080 [69%] [on]
Front Right: Playback 45080 [69%] [on]

Third push - dropped 11%:

Front Left: Playback 37930 [58%] [on]
Front Right: Playback 37930 [58%] [on]

Volti reports a drop in a linear fashion, but that's not what's actually happening. The first drop is precipitous with subsequent drop happening at a diminishing rate. By the time Volti reports 60%, amixer and pulsemixer show 23%. At this point there is no noticeable audio from the speakers.

Is this not the expected behaviour?

The decibel scale is logarithmic.
