to get back to unfunny:

I just installed it using mk.sh (fold:120; as suggested but whenever i try it it says:

fortune cbbl
fortune:/home/naik/bin/fortune-mod-cbbl/cbbl not a fortune file or directory
No fortunes found

whats up there?

did you install to /usr/share/fortune or /usr/share/games/fortunes (note that one is "fortune" and the other "fortunes"!)?
if you did NOT install, you are probably trying to call it from the git repo's root directory.
in that case you have to use "fortune build/cbbl".
you also have to run the mk.sh script again, i made another relevant change.

I still don`t get why mk.sh wouldn`t allow installing in /usr/share/fortune or any other palce i tried (there had been hundrets literally) but it works, that's enough for now.

fortune looks for fortunes in one (!) certain folder.
on debian systems, it is /usr/share/games/fortunes, on my archlinux it is /usr/share/fortune.
therefore, the mk.sh script does not create the folder for you, but installs only into an existing folder.
actually this shouldn't be a user choice at all, but since i don't know what other possibilities there are, it's better like that.
ok, i should make that clearer in the instructions.

edit:
changed default install path in mk.sh since the debian default is the most likely choice.
haven't tested yet.

i think it would be better to provide the user choice with a clearer explanation on why to do so (e.g. give example path names for different OS). For a noob like me it is still not clear that i wont be able to choose any path which comes to my mind.
but thats just my two cents.
