Re: [solved] visual freeze in graphical interface

Once it locks, do you ever get it to unfreeze? Or once it freezes, the only way to gain control again is through a reboot?  What type of computer is this? What did you install on? Graphics card you're using?

Re: [solved] visual freeze in graphical interface

I have to reboot it to regain control.
It's an desktop amd 64 bits.
I installed exaile (which won't start anymore), audacious, leafpad, deluge (which wont work properly anymore), scid (chess database), and tried two ways of getting google earth to lauch without success.
Graphic card : Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Richland [Radeon HD 8570D]

Re: [solved] visual freeze in graphical interface

What packages did you install from the "deb-multimedia" repository?

EDIT: Sorry, I've wrecked your post a bit...

Re: [solved] visual freeze in graphical interface

Try removing those packages.

ffmpeg is available from jessie-backports:
https://packages.debian.org/jessie-backports/ffmpeg

Be careful doing that though, it may want to remove a bunch of other packages sad
