Re: No wifi or ethernet drivers on the notebook

For your wireless card, download this .deb file:
http://httpredir.debian.org/debian/pool … +1_all.deb

Then transfer that file to your home directory in your BunsenLabs system and run this command:

sudo dpkg -i firmware-iwlwifi_20160110-1~bpo8+1_all.deb

Then reboot, your wireless might work then smile

If it doesn't, you will need to download and install a newer kernel package as well:
http://httpredir.debian.org/debian/pool … _amd64.deb

Once the wireless is working, add the jessie-backports repository and install the kernel metapackage from there (see the link in my signature) to ensure that the kernel is kept updated.

Re: No wifi or ethernet drivers on the notebook

Thank you very much for trying to help

I installed the kernel you mention, and recognizes the drivers but does not start the graphical interface

What I can do?

Re: No wifi or ethernet drivers on the notebook

Post content of $HOME/.xsession-errors.

Guess: the new kernel needs a graphical stack that matches it?

Re: No wifi or ethernet drivers on the notebook

Problem is that your PC is too new for Bunsenlabs.
We could try to setup your wireless from the command line, but even if that works, you will have to upgrade to a more recent distro.

I think you will be best served by installing a distribution that is more recent out-of-the-box.

I would suggest:
- archlinux if you are comfortable working from the command line
- latest version of Ubuntu
- latest version of Linuxmint

If you later find out that you want a lighter system à la Bunsenlabs, we can help you with that.
