@johnraff, it's a field that gets added to the bottom of the "System" tab (Lock screen when system is going for [sic] sleep).
I have that field too with the checkbox ticked but light-locker is not installed. Seems it appears not only in the presence of light-locker.

yea but you're using some other screen locking/saver right? It probably appears when it detects any locking software.

Right, I have only slock, already installed as a part of the suckless-tools package.

That would be a good trick. It could look for a few it knows about, but other than that, what would it look for?
I have i3lock installed, no xscreensaver and no light-locker. And I too have the checkbox in question appearing in the XFCE Power Manager Settings window. But the checkbox doesn't do anything in my system. From this, I infer (1) xfce4-power-manager is not aware of i3lock, and (2) that checkbox is likely *not* dependent on which screen lock software is installed.

Yes, it's quite obvious to me that xfce4-power-manager needs the wrapper script xflock4 to launch a screen locker by suspending/hibernating. It seems to me this is the only command it calls. But xflock4 being a simple bash script is easy to modify.

ehh I think we're going around in circles here... We established that xflock4 is *not* used in Bunsenlabs. BUT a screen locker/saver can indeed still be run. So, that means that xfce4-power-manager doesn't require the xflock4 wrapper if it depends on something else.

^^
I tested it with a disabled xflock4 : PM suspends by idling or closing the lid *but* doesn't lock the screen. I have slock as a screen locker.
Please test it with different ones, maybe with light-locker works.
