What, have you never played "Carrot in a Box"?  It's brilliant!

I'd have posted it in the Cool Random Internet Stuff thread, but it's fine here too.

Oh sorry, please remove it if inappropriate, but it made my day...

Gotta say, when I read "Carrot in a Box", I imagined something much more inappropriate, but blame that on my brain and Rule 43.

If you want some really shocking comedy, go for Frankie Boyle...

Probably not, although my personal favourite is David Mitchell.

OK, #1 in that list (a blue joke about a memorial celebration honoring Princess Diana) is a perfect example of Rule 43; thanks for that.

Re: Completely Off Topic Chat

I'm not a fan of Boyle's gratuitously offensive "humour", and neither are the TV companies who don't have him on their panel shows any more.

But maybe I should just follow Rule 5?

Re: Completely Off Topic Chat

I agree, Frankie's overused this type of humour and it's gone blunt now.
You are all familiar with the following classic I presume:
They say of the Acropolis where the Parthenon is...

Also, now that we're discussing British comedy, what is Graham Linehan doing these days? (alright he's Irish)
The IT Crowd, Father Ted and Black Books are some of my favourites, especially The IT Crowd.

Not sure how I feel about the other rules there, but I agree with Rule 9.  One night I rode to work in a heavy sleet/rain mix; I felt more hard core than Bubblevicious.

^ OK, you win both Rule 9 and Rule 5; longest I've ever ridden (not counting a couple trips to Fayettenam on my motorized bike, but we'll file that under /b/) was 3 hours to a concert and 3 hours back.

anybody know how to use the clipit Exclude feature?
I cannot find documentation anywhere, not even in the package itself.
All it says is "Regex list of items that should not be inserted" but i have no clue if it refers to the item itself (i.e. i should need a string representing the actual password) or its origin (the application it came from)???
it does at least work when i insert the actual password, but i find that nonsensical.

I have read the source files, and this is how it works:

The string that you have copied to the clipboard is matched against all the regex expressions in the order that they occur in the 'excludes' tab. Any match causes the string on the clipboard not to be copied to the clipit history.

So you should find a regex - or a series of regexes - that matches all of your passwords, but none of your non-passwords.

e.g.

^[^ ]{8,16}$

This matches all single-word strings (no spaces in it) that are 8 to 16 characters long.

Of course this will also match words that are not passwords.
If you want those in the clipit history, you will have to refine your regex.

Making all your passwords equally long and specifying that length in the regex will already let you save single words in the clipit history that are of a different length.

^ yeay, same here.
the intro is cheesy, the guy looks cheesy, and starts off cheesy - but i enjoy this sort of culture-clash humor - maybe because i have experienced some of it myself.

hey, thanks a lot.
this means i'm going to have to significantly change my keepassx database, but it's a worthwile endeavor i guess.
otoh, maybe other clipboard managers have better algorithms?
i really think it should check against where the password is copied from, but maybe that isn't so easy to realize.
