I'm glad that we don't include xscreensaver in BunsenLabs.
Since I use Vanilla LXDE (which ships with Xscreensaver installed), a startup splash warning stating that "your version is very old!" has compelled me to search for a way to disable said splash.
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugrepo … bug=819703
The more of his posts I read in that thread, the less I like Jamie Zawinski.
Now I'm kind of grieving my xscreensaver install (even though it's a new version, e.g. not displaying said warning) for the impolite coding practices. I immediately thought about this guy
"borrowing" his computer just to sneak in a bunch of random full-caps popups just for the funnies.
And this helped come to terms with having xscreensaver installed.
edit: there's a special place in hell for these guys. All pcs have windows 10 installed, but it never stops asking if you want to upgrade to windows 10 .g
edit2: now I just imagine RMS having to click away that popup and having a seizure as a result.
time to stop thinking about it....

Fortunately I don't care, because I don't like to use such an ugly application O:)

Are you a documentation-resistant user?
By default popup buffers also feature a section listing commands
common to all popups. To avoid conflicts with suffix commands, the
bindings of these common commands are not alphabetic characters. This
section is shown by default so that documentation-resistant users get a
change to notice them.

^ I've just updated the gtk-theme-arc-git package and it seems to work.
Release 20160331 had "Lots of fixes for Gnome/GTK 3.20"
EDIT: I didn't even notice the 3.20 transition:
[2016-03-31 21:05] [ALPM] upgraded gtk3 (3.18.9-1 -> 3.20.2-1)
Arch rocks!
EDIT2: No, hold on, I remember now -- my Arc theme lost the textbox & button outlines so I had to
cd ~/git/aur/gtk-arc-theme-git && git pull && makepkg -sri
Then open lxappearance, select a different theme then select Arc again and everything was fixed

anybody know how to use the clipit Exclude feature?
I cannot find documentation anywhere, not even in the package itself.
All it says is "Regex list of items that should not be inserted" but i have no clue if it refers to the item itself (i.e. i should need a string representing the actual password) or its origin (the application it came from)???
it does at least work when i insert the actual password, but i find that nonsensical.

^ I agree. Thinkpads are great with Linux, though I recently stumbled upon a rather faulty series. Watch out for the Edge 14 & Edge 15 models with discrete AMD graphics. The heat-sink is absolute junk and doesn't contact the graphics chip's memory modules properly.
In Austria some retailers also sell refurbished Thinkpads, Dells, etc. However, for 200-300 euro one can only get a Core 2 Duo laptop. Wish I stayed in the US for the electronics .
EDIT: Just checked again. Core i5 Dells can also be bought for under 300 euro, though that's still more expensive than in the US.

My X201 is better supported under OpenBSD than GNU/Linux, the developers use ThinkPads themselves.

^Nice, thanks!

I traded a brand new Chromebook that was a gift for a refurbished 15" T500 6 months ago (insane prices indead, it was $200 delivered to the store) and was quite worried what the build-quality and noise-level would be in comparison, especially since it's a Lenovo and not an IBM. I've never heard the fan in this thing and it's built like a brick outhouse.
Why not the T420 for ~50$ more and 8G RAM instead of a meager 2G?
The cheaper one can be expanded to 8G. My first desktop had 1G RAM, and I've never needed more for what I do as long as I run XP or Linux. I currently have 2G and it's more than enough. Your, right though, if you need RAM, that's a very cheap add-on.

Broke my virtual machine completely so I've set up a systemd-nspawn container instead using machinectl(1) to control it.
root@Arch ~ # machinectl list
MACHINE CLASS SERVICE
jessie container systemd-nspawn
1 machines listed.
root@Arch ~ # machinectl show jessie
Name=jessie
Id=00000000000000000000000000000000
Timestamp=Sat 2016-04-16 17:29:09 BST
TimestampMonotonic=2032888491
Service=systemd-nspawn
Unit=systemd-nspawn@jessie.service
Leader=5739
Class=container
RootDirectory=/var/lib/machines/jessie
State=running
So if I want to run a shell in the container, I can just use:
root@Arch ~ # machinectl login jessie
Connected to machine jessie. Press ^] three times within 1s to exit session.
