Asus Eee PC 900 and BunsenLabs

Is BunsenLabs a suitable OS for the Asus Eee PC 900?
If so, where would be my best choice for further reading?
If not, please may I have some suggestions for a suitable alternative OS?

Regards,
Mycroft

Re: Asus Eee PC 900 and BunsenLabs

Bunsen's needed resources are pretty low. I'm not familiar with your pc, so after a quick google, I see the specs. I think the biggest thing you need to think about is your connection (aka what wireless card you have installed.)  If you do a :

lspci -knn|grep -iA2 'net'

and post the results it may get you some further advice. From the specs I see of a model on amazon, you're running with about 1 gig of ram and roughly 900Mhz?  I mean you won't be doing anything flashy, but it should run Bunsen without a hiccup. What do you plan on using / doing with it once installed?

Re: Asus Eee PC 900 and BunsenLabs

If I were you, I'd give the Debian netinstall ISO with non-free drivers a go. It'll either detect your network card or it won't, before it installs anything.
If you have any success, great! Continue with the install and then install BunsenLabs on top using the netinstall method described at the bottom of this page. Be sure to read the README first so you know what to expect!

BL should be fine in an eeepc

You can skim down the RAM usage by following @hhh's excellent guide:

If you want something lighter, check out 4MLinux or perhaps Alpine Linux or OpenBSD if you don't mind a more manual approach to system administration.

@Eraph -- the netinstall route is not needed in this case as the BunsenLabs live ISO image already contains any non-free firmware that may be needed wink

I did not know that! Thanks for the heads up.
