I've noticed recently...... and I have no idea if this has always been the case or if it's new.....the Help menu is very slow. If I right click and scroll down, it's several seconds before the Help menu pops out. It's like it's taking a long time to load. If I go to System, or Preferances it's near an instantanious responce. If I return to Help it loads very quickly, I assume becasue it's already loaded from the previous time.
What is really annoying is that if I open the System menu, and continue on down to Help, System still shows until Help decides it wants to appear.
Is this normal?

It is normal that a complex pipemenu will take longer to load and display, but there shouldn't be much lag like you describe. Do you get the same problem with other pipemenus? "Display keybinds" (bl-kb-pipemenu), and "Recent Files" (bl-recent-files-pipemenu) are a couple of the heavier ones.

The Help menu is the only one that appears super slow. I do notice that it also seems to be the most complicated.

the pipemenu in question is located at:
/usr/bin/bl-help-pipemenu
i suggest you troubleshoot like this:
execute the pipemenu from a terminal. same lag?
make a copy of it in your $HOME, and start stripping out stuff until you find what makes it slow.

[*]execute the pipemenu from a terminal. same lag?[/*]
If I type the file name, it simply types the code out on the screen...... is that what you're expecting it to do?

That is what should happen, but since `bl-help-pipemenu` doesn't have any scripts to run in order to load the output, there is unlikely to be any errors to see. I'm not sure where the delay could be coming from.

It does seem a bit faster by command line......but maybe that's only becasue I get to watch a show of everything scrolling by.

I should probably mention that this is a virtual machine, with Jessie as a host os.
