I have never had a problem with downloading OO or LO.

I just tried the torrent and took less than a minute.

Looks like your repos are set up wrong, remove the part in bold:

http://httpredir/dists/.debian.org

so it is:

So all of these problems are on a different PC?

This is a new installation, yes?

bayou wrote:

i added the backports repository

How did you do this?

What exactly did you add?

From the error messages, there is a bad line in the file at /etc/apt/sources.list or in one of the files in the /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ directory.

The correct format for the (non-security) lines is:

deb http://httpredir.debian.org/debian

If any of the lines have /dists/ in the middle then remove that bit.

Then try `bl-welcome` again.

Re: [SOLVED] how to upgrade libreoffice?

I think @bayou may have added backports twice - once with the `bl-welcome` script (in `sources.list.d/`), and again with the `echo` command (in `sources.list`)

Re: [SOLVED] how to upgrade libreoffice?

OK.

Try the command

sudo apt-get install -t jessie-backports libreoffice

Seems like apt is not as clever as apt-get when it comes to combining dependencies from jessie-backports with jessie.

sudo LC_ALL=C apt-get install -t jessie-backports libreoffice

The LC_ALL=C bit before the command will make it output in English wink
