Hello friends,
I have done a forum search but could not find a previous topic related to my exact issue.
I am using an Asus G73S with a secondary Samsung S24D300 monitor via HDMI output (both monitors 1920x1080). I am able to get the monitor layout correct, however, I cannot figure out how to make the laptop screen the main screen. It makes the secondary monitor the main screen. Also, I would like the second screen to extend the desktop and not show the clock and so on if possible.
Thank you for your help,

How are you setting the layout? If with an arandr .screenlayout script (which uses xrandr), then look at the command which is being used. There is a `--primary` switch for xrandr (See `man xrandr`).
If by "not show the clock etc" you mean the Tint2 panel, then edit the tint2rc config to only show on a particular desktop.
"Menu -> Preferences -> Tint2 -> Edit Tint2s", and set `panel_monitor = x"
There are items in the Help menu for Tint2 and xrandr

^ This covers most of the basics. However, in my experience (and from what I've read online) the --primary switch is mostly ignored by WMs and DEs (other than KDE). You can specify a primary monitor in OBConf on the Windows tab as either a fixed monitor, the active monitor (the one with the active window), or the monitor where the mouse pointer is; my guess is you'd want to set your primary monitor to whichever one is on your laptop.
Tint2 handles dual head setups much better than most DE panels. The LXDE panel, for example, shows up on whichever monitor is on the left or on top; from what I've read, this is true for the Gnome panel as well.
Be excellent to each other, and...party on, dudes!
