[SOLVED] No wifi or volume tray icons in tint2

Hey y'all!

I just installed rc2 a week ago, and the volume icon never appeared in my tint2. I can still adjust my laptop's volume with alsamixer. I slightly altered my autostart and tint2rc files and now, after a reboot, I can't seem to figure out why my wifi icon also isn't appearing in my tint2. It's still connecting to my saved wireless network, just no icon. The only icon I have in my systray is the battery.

This command output shows that the autostart file for nm-applet is still there so it should run at startup.

pgrep nm-applet > /dev/null 2>&1 && echo running || echo not running
not running

...but it's not

What happens if you run it from a terminal:

nm-applet &

Alright, so that worked!

And now, after rebooting, the wifi applet is showing in my tint2. No idea what black magic is going on here, but I'm glad it's working now.

When running volti from terminal I got this:

But I just remembered something I had to do when BunsenLabs first came out. In ~/.config/volti/config under [global] I changed the card_index value from 0 to 1. After changing it this time around it was muted by default. I right-clicked the volume icon and unchecked 'mute', but there was still no sound from my speakers. I plugged in headphones, still nothing, even after unmuting. I repeated this several times without any luck.

BUT THEN... I added a [card-1] section to ~/.config/volti/config:

Thank you for solution but still perplexed WHY did it start to work after run mn-applet & VERY strange. I noticed in my case it happens after upgrades

From time to time I have a similar issue regarding the network-icon. nm-applet just does not start, but I can start it via terminal. However where the network-icon should be, I see the small browser-icon, which does not do anything, if I click on it. After restarts mostly nm-applet loads correctly, but not always. I have no idea why...

It may be a timing issue when applications are loading. IIRC I used to start nm-applet from autostart, with a sleep delay, instead of using '/etc/xdg/autostart/nm-applet.desktop'

I see, that could be it indeed (although I also noticed that changing the icon theme to gtk looks great and that behavior did not occur so far. I have to test it further though.) Thank you for the hint, sorry about the thread!
