Sheesh...I love bash, but the syntax sometimes just drives me nuts! And this isn't even that complicated!
....

I think @johnraff loves to use minimal bash, whereas I like to have things more explanatory. So something that takes me 3 lines that I can read without 10 bash help tabs open, he can do with a single `[[    ]] || <something>`   8o

:whispers away from Johnraff::  I prefer the longer method as well!  The man bash  pages are huge.
