^ FWIW, I haven't smoked a cigar in 18 years, but if you really NEED to know about the haze and lack of Oxygen in my corner...well, they don't call me an old fart for nothing! ]:D ]:D ]:D

The place emptied out. Now it's very lonely here. Meanwhile...alllez, allez in free. The air has cleared and is a fresh as a spring day! 8o

^ @damo - I think that's been a given all along, just that some of us old stinkers like to kid the 'young-uns'.
How about a change of rules:

I'm only 49 but felt a very strong urge to join this thread. The wisdom of the ancients is something we can all learn from!
(My kids think I'm old, so does that count for any extra points?)

The day my oldest son asked me; "Hey, dad, did grampa let you use the family dinosaur to pick up your dates?" I knew I was getting on or failed to teach him respect! I was 39 or 40 at the time!

Sure. I'll tell the waiter to tiptoe around you.

A few spare wheelchairs might be nice, too.

Does anyone here still remember Morse code? When I was a kid, I began learning it because you needed to pass a Morse code test to receive a ham operator's license. Since I lacked the funds for a Heathkit radio, I gave up the idea. Moreover, I tried listening and deciphering code operators on a short- wave radio but they were so fast, I was lucky to decipher the first few words. 8o

We had a conversation once in #! OffTopic, carried out in morse code. Sometimes it's fun not getting a life!
I worked for a research organisation where a lot of the jargon was a holdover from morse transmissions, when remote field parties used it. "Q" codes are a 3 letter shorthand for a variety of Q and A's, so to ask where someone was, for example, we'd just say "QTH" ie "What is your position?"

Nominating this for Quote of the Month.
No, he can't sleep on the floor. What do you think I'm yelling for?!!!

^ We should start a monthly thread for that - I often thought it would be a good idea on #!
(It could be a source for that cowsay quotes thing that is going on)
Then we can have an annual competition for the Winner

Morse code - no ... but Flag semaphore, so as not to be confused with semaphore (programming). Not to be confused with Sheldon's "Fun with Flags" either.
@hhh - I'll second that! - for November!

How many of you oldtimers still have a full head of hair? If so, what color is it?
How many are bald, as in heavenly chrome dome?
