@lamarca: Many movies made during the 1940's and 50's sometimes had big band parts in them, don't think that happens much anymore unless it is a documentary.
I gave up on TV about 8 years ago and haven't wasted money on it since. I do rent, purchase DVD's and visit a few local theatres.
I don't miss TV! : )

The older I get, the more Pete Townshend surpasses my other favorite musicians (Sting, Peter Gabriel, Miles, Jonie Mitchell, David Gilmour/Floyd, Beatles, Hendrix, The Clash, Radiohead, Pretenders). his mix of hard/soft, keep it simple and rock-the-crap-out-of-it does it for me.
No, he can't sleep on the floor. What do you think I'm yelling for?!!!

How about this:
According to Rolling Stone, Pete Townshend of The Who once said, "If it hadn't been for Link Wray and 'Rumble,' I never would have picked up a guitar."

Working my way through A BBC Music guide to cult albums. ATM I'm listening to "Banana Blush" by the Poet Laureate Sir John Betjeman - interestingly bizarre!

@eight.bit.al: Oddly caught the first tune of Twelve Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus on the local radio years ago, but had not a clue who or what it was from...
Now I know! Thanks
Great album!
That album is a special memory for me. I was living/crewing on a 100 foot racing cruiser. A beautiful all wood sailing yacht.
The owner had installed a high powered audio system with the speakers built into the bulkheads. It was like being inside a guitar while someone plays it. We used to jam that album so loud the dishes vibrated out of the cupboards. 1972/73 Miami FL. USA
